This rally is gonna be a lot of driving. I’ll need hours and hours of music, podcasts, and books-on-tape.

Er, i guess not books-on-tape, but books-on-USB-thumb-drive.

In a plot shamelessly stolen from Mystic Moose on the Mongol Rally, I’m opening up my playlist picks to you, dear reader. I want you to pick songs for my rally playlist.

I need songs that are going to keep me motivated on the long drive, to keep my wits and spirits up, or if you’re dastardly, to drive me crazy with “who let the dogs out” 20 times in a row.

For every dollar you put down, you pick a song. 100% of what you put down goes to Corazon de Vida. Whether you want to pick a single song or thirty, it all goes to charity.

Corazon de Vida is a foundation dedicated to providing support to orphanages in Northern Baja that are in dire need of food, education supplies, or repairs. They have been on this mission for nearly 30 years and work directly with more than 10 orphanages and over 500 children and teenagers.

Each song you pick goes on my downloaded song list at the start of the rally -and I’ll be listening to it every day.

If you put up $10 or more, after the rally I can send you a personalized video of myself listening to your songs each day over the course of the rally and you can get my commentary and/or see my slow descent into madness as I go on hour 2 of the Benny hill theme.

These posts wouldn’t be true to the spirit of the team name if it started any earlier than a couple weeks before the rally.

It’s late January now and the rally starts on Feb 16th (well it actually kicks off the morning of the 17th but I’m 400 miles from the start line so it starts a day early for me).

If you’re interested in following along with the progress leading up to the rally, keep an eye on this space. There will be occasional posts during the rally as well but I’m making no promises because who knows what my cell service will be.
